The Rough Hollow Fitness Center provides tons of individual and group training opportunities. For starters, you can work out indoors at our state-of-the-art strength and cardio gyms. Or you can enjoy the fresh air and get your exercise by walking, jogging, or hiking the trails and greenbelts in Lakeway. Many of the paths are primitive and challenge you with steeper climbs to get your heart pumping. The resort-style swimming pool is an excellent place to do some laps, then rest and enjoy the view of the lake and marina. Even the stairs leading down to the Marina & Ship Store are a workout in themselves
The 4,000-square-foot open-air pavilion also offers the opportunity to do boot camps, mat Pilates, yoga, circuit training, and more. Kids' classes, such as Taekwondo, can be even more fun with a view of Lake Travis. Classes will be forming soon. Sign up today and be the first to know about new classes and events.
The fitness center consists of two gyms: the strength gym and the cardio gym.
The strength gym features CYBEX's state-of-the-art VR3 range-limiting strength line, along with dumbbells, boxing/kick boxing, and a functional training area. The functional training area is equipped for core/stabilization training, balance and agility training, plyometrics, and floor work. This room also contains two large flat screen TVs.
The cardio gym hosts a vast array of equipment, including the newly acclaimed Precor AMT® (Adaptive Motion Trainer), CYBEX treadmills, CYBEX Total Body Arc Trainers, Versa Climber, Fluid Rower, and the innovative Expresso S2 stationary bike that uses virtual-reality technology. While on the cardio equipment, users can enjoy the beautiful views of Lake Travis or watch personal TVs.

F.I.T. Boot Camp Training
Functional Integrated Training (F.I.T.) group training is located under Rough Hollow's pavilion, offering a total body workout that emphasizes body alignment to build muscular strength, endurance, agility, flexibility, and balance. Since this is circuit training, heart rates will remain elevated throughout the hour. Various tools are incorporated into these workouts (such as the BOSU® balance trainer, stability balls, resistance bands, weighted jump ropes, medicine balls, Reebok Step, TKO upright boxing unit, and the TRX® suspension training fitness straps). These workouts can burn well over 700 calories—so be prepared to sweat.
- What do I need to bring? Water, to stay hydrated.
- How long are the workouts? Personal training is 60 minutes and includes warm-up, workout, and stretches. The Boot Camp is 90 minutes and includes warm-up, full-body workout, and cool down.
- Do I need to bring a heart rate monitor? Yes, if you have one or you can order one at a discount, if you desire.
- Should I do one-on-one personal training before I tackle the Boot Camp? Yes. It's a good idea to have a fitness assessment and learn the fundamentals with personal trainer, Paul Holubets, CPT, before moving to the higher-intensity Boot Camp.

Acknowledged as one of Los Angeles' most-skilled personal trainers by Los Angeles Magazine and featured in a fitness excerpt on the television program, Extra, Paul uses a combination of knowledge, personal experience and passion to give his clients high levels of fitness, motivation and confidence.
Paul is a nationally certified personal trainer (CPT) with the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). His certifications and specialized courses concentrate in sports medicine, advanced program design, functional integrated training, human biomechanics, and senior and youth exercise training.
His college studies include classes in exercise physiology, human behavior psychology, anatomy, kinesiology, sports medicine, exercise prescription, and program design. While attending the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point, Paul worked for the university as an Exercise Specialist for various collegiate teams, including football, wrestling, and hockey. Before that, he spent many years participating in football, wrestling, track, and body building.
Paul lives his motto: To be a winner, it takes dedication, determination, believing in yourself, and believing in your capabilities! He relocated to California's west coast in 1990 and put his expertise to use by working as a personal trainer, fitness manager, physical therapy aide, and fitness researcher at a local college. His clients range from pre-teen to seniors (ages 7 to 88)—and are from every walk of life. He has trained many of the Los Angeles Lakers' cheerleaders since 1997, some of Hollywood's elite film producers, and many golf professionals.
In 2005, Paul relocated to central Texas and now enjoys his Austin-based personal training program at Rough Hollow Fitness Center, which overlooks beautiful Lake Travis and the Texas Hill Country. He enjoys the mild year-round weather, which helps him vary workouts tremendously. On any given day, he can be seen training his clients indoors and out, doing boot camps under Rough Hollow's 4,000-square-foot pavilion that overlooks the marina, or kayaking on the lake.
Paul devotes one week each month to his Southern California clients by flying back and doing group trainings, hiking excursions, and boot camps on the beach. He has so much fun training, that some of his Texas clients now join him on his California outings to places like Runyon Canyon in the Hollywood Hills and his favorite 5-mile hike in Palos Verdes which overlooks the Pacific Ocean.
Paul also designs in-home gyms and community fitness centers. His 20 years in the fitness industry have been monumental in his design set-up, rapport with equipment manufacturers, and his ability to provide 3-D CAD drawings. His gym designs are as personalized as his fitness programs.
In his free time, he enjoys fishing, hiking, kayaking, and circuit training. He also has a true love for cooking and entertaining. Paul has two beautiful, athletic children, Amber and Kyle. He enjoys working out with them and teaching them culinary skills in the kitchen.
Paul currently trains in clients' homes, on location (beaches, parks, etc.), or out of Rough Hollow's Fitness Center located at 105 Yacht Club Cove in Lakeway, Texas (just west of Austin).
